Salon Marketing and SeafoodI was sat on the Quayside in Swanage this afternoon outside ‘G White’s’ seafood bar (one of my favourite places on the planet) nibbling on a fresh crab and spotted a few recent changes to the establishment…

Now, it’s been there for years and does an absolutely roaring trade and leaves many people in the town absolutely flabbergasted at it’s success.

The two most obvious changes ‘G White’ has made are:

1. He’s added a seated area offering gourmet high priced seafood…Such as oysters, fresh mussels, fresh lobsters etc. That means he now has 4 services on offer. Fresh seafood in trays (prawns, cockles, mussels etc), takeaway hot food (pizza slices, Paninis, chips etc), ice creams and this new ‘luxury’ seated area.

2. Every time I now place an order I am asked whether or not I would like tea, coffee, a drink, bread or at least something else to go with my crab…And I usually say yes to something…

What has this got to do with you?

Hold on…I’ll explain in a sec…

Just for now, let’s take a step back and think about what you would have to do to become the most profitable beauty salon in the World.

What do you think?

-          Have the best beauticians?

-          Have the best location?

-          The best treatments?

-          The lowest prices?

-          The highest prices?

-          The best name?

-          The best sign?

-          The biggest range of retail items?

I’ll make it very simple for you (and you may well know this without even realising it).

There are only two things you need to do become the most profitable salon in your town, county, the UK or even worldwide.

Number one: Get MORE Clients

Number: Get Each One to Spend More

That’s it…Nothing else…It REALLY IS that SIMPLE.

Now, if we look back a what ‘G White’ has done – you can see he’s putting this into practice.

He’s opened a ‘luxury’ seafood bar and while that won’t necessarily bring him new customers just on its own, it does open him to a NEW section of customers who may not have visited him before (in particular affluent customers…And WE WANT THESE! I’ll talk about this another time).

He’s trained ALL his staff to offer very simple additional items to each order…And those additional items MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. I won’t go into the maths here but trust me, offering those simple ‘up-sells’ will make him a ‘rich’ man…

There are endless ways to put this into practice in YOUR SALON.
